Before any explanations as to why it has been so quiet, I’m glad to announce MKB is still on going and will be launching a new format in the near future. But first a little history about MKB.
The idea of MKB is purely a fun format to raise cash for charities and other deserving causes. The plan was whenever I (the Ref) had some downtime from my usually sporadic freelance work , I would get the ball out and go kicking. Typically however, work has been non stop since early 2008 and I just haven’t had the time. During this busy period I have however been able to look ways of improving the MKB format.
At the moment Monies raised are looked after by Football Aid and then distributed to charities at the end of the season. After much thought I feel it would be better to let organisers of MKB events keep all donations on the day. Therefore the new year will see MKB offered as a totally free fundraiser for your charity/cause. The ball and goal will be brought to your event free of charge and you will get to keep 100% of all donations made on the day. Any charity wishing to make use of this free fundraiser please get in touch.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved so far, especially Football Aid, Phil Powell, Ray Stubbs, Richard Chaplow, Adnan Ahmed, George Galloway and Channel 5’s Police Interceptors.
The first Donations will be made soon. Please stick with us.
The Barrowford Show scheduled for Sunday 24th August, 2008 has been cancelled. The 86th annual event was called off at the last minute by organisers after weeks of rain made the site unusable. MKB would like to apologise to any potential kickers. Hopefully we can return next year, if the weather holds up.
MKB was taken in to custody by Channel Five’s ‘Police Interceptors’ this week. The team, specialists in advanced pursuit management, drive souped up Subaru’s and Evo’s and use cutting-edge ANPR (auto number plate recognition) technolgy. At approximately 15.00 hrs GMT yesterday, MKB was stopped in the street by PC Grant Snow and taken back to Stanway Police Station. It was later reported that the ball has been given “a good old fashioned kicking”.
Police Interceptors is made by RAW CUT TV for Channel Five.
New Photos are now up on MKB‘s page over at Facebook
MKB will be on a mid season break for the next couple of months while the referee attends to his real job. Bookings are however still being taken and summer fixtures will be announced shortly.
“We are still only in the first few months of the first ever season of MKB and so we ask all potential kickers to remain patient. We will get to them eventually”. The Ref,
Accrington Stanley FC became the first ever football club to hold a ‘Public Kicking’ over the Easter weekend at their game with MK Dons. Kickers included the entire ASFC squad, guest celebrities, fans of both teams and Dons manager Paul Ince, the Ex England and Manchester United player.
Celebrated northerner Jeff ‘Bog Off’ Brown, famous for the Safe-Style UK TV adverts, compered the event. MKB added over 100 kicks to the quest to create the Most Kicked Ball in history. We would like to thank Samba Sports for donating the nets, the staff and players of Accrington Stanley for inviting MKB to the Fraser Eagle Stadium and to applaud both sets of fans for their enthusiasm and generous support.
Video highlights of the event available on line now.
Two professional footballers, a gang of school children, some hairdressers, and two 97 yr old ladies were amongst the kickers of the ball last weekend as MKB held its first ever public kicking in Barnoldswick, Lancashire. In all, over 100 people turned out, raising more than £230 for charity.
MKB would like to applaud all the kickers for their generosity. A special thank you goes to West Craven High School, and pro footballers Richard Chaplow (Preston North End), and Adnan Ahmed (Tranmere Rovers).
Special highlights presented by BBC‘s Ray Stubbs are now available on the video page

Former England and Newcastle manager Sir Bobby Robson, patron of MKB’s charity partner Football Aid has given his backing to MKB. “The Most Kicked Ball is a great concept which not only raises money for charity but it allows football fans the chance to get a kick at the ball!”.

MKB visited Westminster today and became the first known football ever to be kicked inside the grounds of Parliament, by the one and only George Galloway MP.
Galloway is on a par with football referees with his views and opinions dividing many. However the rhetoric spoken today was far from confrontational, as he lent his charitable support to MKB. “ I have always believed that everyone should use their vote, and I am asking them to vote today, and to vote with their feet, by kicking the Most Kicked Ball”. (see our video section)
BBC football presenter Ray Stubbs has become the first celebrity to put the boot in and kick the Most Kicked Ball.
Ray, himself a former footballer is also known for his action hero antics with Sport Relief. He has been dropped 100 feet into a pile of boxes, suspended from a crane, and swung into a giant ball of dung. Luckily this time he didn’t suffer, as he calmly side footed his MKB Kick. Ray only had time to say “I got a kick out of it” before shooting off to England’s first training session under Fabio Capello.
We would like to offer our sincerest thanks to Ray and if you’re a fan of his, then pop back soon to see him guest present a special edition of our highlight videos.
MKB has kicked off in Ulverston, Cumbria.
Adam Robinson, winner of the eBay auction was delighted to be the first ever kicker. Dressed in a tuxedo for the occasion Adam spoke to MKB in typical footballer parlance, “Not many people come to this place and get a result, but I showed desire and commitment. It was a big ask, but I did the job”.
As the first ever kicker of MKB, Adam was also presented with a bottle of champagne, which he dedicated to “the many charities that will benefit from the Most Kicked Ball”. Watch the highlights now at MKB video.
